Samantha Wheeler, National Ambassador – ‘Hook into Books’ Campaign 

Samantha Wheeler fell in love with animals when she received her first tortoise at the age of 6. She went on to study Agriculture, work with dairy farmers, and teach science in high schools until 2011, whe The YouTube ID of Insert video URL or ID here is invalid. n she wrote Smooch & Rose, inspired by koalas. Since then, her books have been shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards, the Environmental Children’s Book Awards, the Whitley Book Awards and the Readings Top 5. Samantha hopes her fourth book, Wombat Warriors, will inspire children to speak up and make a difference.

Samantha has begun building relationships within the Youth+ Flexible Learning Centres and has a passion for promoting a range of diverse literature engagement opportunities for young people.

The Youth Plus Foundation is honoured to join with Sam as it endeavours on a National Campaign to highlight the importance of literacy in our everyday lives and promote a love of reading and the joy that can be experienced by losing yourself in reading!
